# CLI

## CLI Integration

You can use the OpenAI CLI with a custom base URL to interact with QuickSilver agents — perfect for rapid testing, scripting, or automation tasks.

### Installation

```bash
npm install -g openai
```

### Setup

Set your API credentials as environment variables:

```bash
export OPENAI_API_KEY="your-api-key"
export OPENAI_API_BASE="https://api-quicksilver.iotex.ai/v1"
```

{% hint style="info" %}
Replace `your-api-key` with your actual QuickSilver API key.
{% endhint %}

### Usage

Use the following command to start a conversation:

```bash
openai api chat_completions.create \
  -m gpt-3.5-turbo \
  -g "You are a helpful assistant." \
  -g user "Tell me about OpenAPI schemas."
```

### Tips

* Ideal for quick testing, automation scripts, and CI workflows
* Using environment variables keeps your API key secure
* Fully compatible with OpenAI CLI syntax and commands
* Do not share your API key in public code or command history
